peter lucania, general manager/beverage director
A Livingston, NJ native, Peter Lucania had his sights set on the New York restaurant world at a young age. He finally made the move across the Hudson in 1993, his first job being that of bartender at Buckaroo's on the Upper East Side. From there, he worked in other bars before moving downtown to help run the beverage program at Quilty's in Soho, where he worked with his mentor, Katy Sparks. Sparks taught Peter how food, wine and fine dining all work together, and for the next five years Peter learned everything he could from her.
In 2001, Peter moved even further downtown and was the opening bartender at The Harrison in Tribeca. It was as smooth an opening as Peter has ever been a part of, and it's where he met Mikey Price and Joey Campanaro, who were then sous chef and executive chef, respectively. The three developed a fast friendship and when Peter left to pursue other interests in 2003, he knew he'd be working with those guys again one day.
After opening Irving Mill as general manager in 2007, Peter received a call in 2008 from his old friend Mikey Price asking him to be the GM and Beverage Director of West Village favorite Market Table. He jumped at the opportunity to work with the guys he had the most fun with in his professional career and as he says, "you can't beat going to work with your friends every day." At Market Table, Peter has turned the wine and hospitality programs into some of the best in the city, and most importantly, he's enjoying working with "the family" again.
